Antibiotic Myth
Well, it’s that time of year again! Cold and flu season! Yuck!
One of the biggest problems though, is that people are under the impression that antibiotics are necessary to heal from all these illnesses. Especially here, in the Middle East, where people do not even need a prescription for most medicine. They just go to the local pharmacy an pick up their believed “cure”. But, are you aware that antibiotics do not fight viruses?
In fact, taking antibiotics when you have a virus alone may actually do more harm than good. Taking antibiotics unnecessarily also increases your risk of getting another infection later due to resistsance in antibiotic treatment.

If You Have a Cold or Flu, Antibiotics Won’t Work For You!
Antibiotics kill bacteria, not viruses such as:
* Colds or flu;
* Most coughs and bronchitis;
* Sore throats not caused by strep; or
* Runny noses
Taking antibiotics for viral infections, such as a cold, cough, the flu, or most bronchitis, will not:
* Cure the infections;
* Keep other individuals from catching the illness; or
* Help you feel better
Get smart and read the chart to know which common illnesses are usually viral or bacterial and when antibiotics are necessary.

sooo agree. some doctors here are so easy giving us antibiotic, and if we refuse they’ll get offended.
oh, by the way, i want to know your opinion bout imunization. i’m kinda bewildered of the pro and contra.

in shaa Allah I will research more on it and write a post. Personally I think immunizations are useful, and there are other much more harmful things in society. I am not sure they have actually proven that they cause anything – esp compared to the other pollutants in society – such as fumes, chemicals and radiation. All these things have greatly increased over the years, and things such as “autism” are shown to be genetically based so it is difficlt fo rme to understand how ppl came to the conclusion that immunizations are harmful. In shaa Allah I need to read more on it, thank u for the questioN!
what do you expect from the swine flu vaccin? are you for or against it?
I havent read about it in detail – in theory I think vaccines are fine, but for this one I have heard that it isnt helpful in this case and may even make things worse – or that it is produced by ppl who “invented” this flu (and hence would need the vaccine and make money) Allah knows best
