JIH – Dieting (Umm Rahmah)
As I mentioned in my initial post, my main health goal is to lose extra weight and feel strong again. I started an exercise regimen in the beginning of March. Of my mini-library of workout DVD’s I chose the Slim in 6 series, because of the mix of cardio and strength training it offers all in one. I also like that it’s a progressive system, starting out slow and then cranking it up as you go along and gain strength.
Well, about a week ago I took my stats and found that although I was feeling good and definitely stronger, I hadn’t lost any weight or inches. Alhamdu lillaah, I was well into the third level of the series, “Burn it Up”, an intense 60-minute fat-blasting, muscle-toning workout, and I could feel that my abdominal muscles had begun to tone up, yes even beneath all the…well…ya know! But I just couldn’t get past the upsetting fact that I hadn’t lost even one pound!!!
So I reluctantly decided that it was time for some drastic measures. I had to start curbing the fat and calories. I had always dreaded the awful day when I’d have to actually go on a real diet to lose weight…when exercise didn’t cut it anymore…when I’d actually have to watch my portions and give up sweets…and here it finally was.
After reviewing my options, I concluded that a juice detox would be the best and easiest way for me to not only wake up my lazy old metabolism, but to cleanse out my system as well.
I started it last Saturday (approx. 6 days ago). I’ve been taking flaxseed capsules and a multivitamin. Here are the stats:
Waist: 4cm/1.57in lost
Weight: 5lbs./2.27kg lost
Strength level: Noticeably higher
Muscle tone: Noticeable
Mashaa Allaah! So I’ve finally been able to see some results! Allaah is merciful! This was just the motivation I needed to keep me going, because I’m telling you, after over a month of getting up early almost everyday to work your butt off, with virtually no results…well, let’s just say it’s hard to keep going. But alhamdu lillaah I am like SOOO pumped now!
